Always plan to arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled lesson time and stay 15 minutes after to be involved in the care of your lesson horse for the day. Everyone starts out in half hour private lessons so that you and the trainer can find a good fit for a group lesson. If you’re just starting out, you’ll learn how to steer and control the horse on your own before moving into an hour group with 2-4 other riders once you are ready, this usually takes 4-6 private lessons. If you’ve ridden before and are getting back into it after a break, this is a good opportunity to get to know each other and what level group you will fit best into.
Plan to dress for the weather as we will be outside for the duration of your lesson. Wear long pants no matter the season, leggings or jeans are just fine for your first few lessons. If you have a boot with a heel such as a fall fashion or combat boot style that is ideal. We have helmets you can borrow until you know the horse addiction is for you!
